LOCAL LOVE : BONDI SURF BATHERS' LIFE SAVING CLUB

by Local Supply on March 28, 2019
We're now the official sunglass partner of Bondi Surf Bathers' Life Saving Club. With their iconic heritage and our mutual love for Bondi, they seemed like the perfect local community for our latest initiative. On Sunday our team went down to say thank you to the volunteer lifesavers gifting them with some new Everyday SLSA sunnies to protect their eyes on patrol.

HERITAGE

Founded way back in 1907, Bondi Surf Bathers' Life Saving Club is actually recognised by SLSA as the oldest surf lifesaving club in the world! Founded from the concern, demand and passion for safe ocean swimming, after a few drowning incidents (and saves!) on Bondi Beach, a handful of local savers met up at the Bondi's Royal Hotel to strategise and launch their new found community. Serious about being official, formal notes were made and Australia’s first Surf Life Saving Club was born.

THE SLSA RANGE

We’re stoked to supply sunnies for a local community who work endlessly to make sure we have a safe summer and to protect beach-goers.
Proceeds from the sale of every pair of Local Supply x SLSA sunglasses supports volunteer lifesavers around Australia. Plus if you're a member of SLSA you can get $30 off our SLSA range AND we'll donate your $10 back to your local club. All you need to do is use  SLSA30 at checkout,  and include the name of your club in the comments section.

DID YOU KNOW?

According to the Police Offences Act of 1838, it was illegal to swim during daylight at this time meaning no need for surf life-saving clubs. After a handful of attempts to rebel against this, the restriction was lifted around 1903.
